MLB’s R.B.I. Southeast World Series Qualifier
Returns to Vero Beach Sports Village
VERO BEACH, Fla. —Vero Beach Sports Village will once again play host to the RBI Regional Baseball and Softball Championships this weekend, July 12-15. This event, sponsored by the Treasure Coast Sports Commission, is the southeastern World Series Qualifier for Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) program that will take the winners to the RBI World Series.
RBI is an MLB youth outreach program, founded in 1989 by former player and scout John Young, designed to increase participation and interest in softball and baseball among underserved youth. This program has already given over 1 million youth the opportunity to participate in softball and baseball programs in their communities.
This weekend’s event will include a softball division with four teams, a junior baseball division with six, 16 and under teams and a senior baseball division that will include five, 18 and under teams.
Teams competing in this weekend’s qualifier will hope to become champions and advance on to the RBI World Series which will be hosted by the Minnesota Twins in Minnesota from July 31-August 12.
Teams participating in each division are from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. All teams will enjoy an opening night, poolside cookout and bonfire at the Western BBQ pit area on-site at VBSV on Thursday. Games will begin on Friday, July 13 at 9 a.m. at VBSV with free admission for spectators.
