New Cloverleaf, Enthusiastic Teams, Great Start: First Tournament Hosted on New Fields A Success

VERO BEACH, Fla.— Vero Beach Sports Village held the first event on its new youth baseball/softball fields this past weekend when it hosted 10 teams for a Florida Premier Sports/USSSA sanctioned tournament.

The tournament brought in teams from across the state including Brevard Thunder Baseball, CBC RiverHawks, Pompano Piranhas, Suntree Slammer, St. Lucie Mets, Treasure Coast Young Guns, Coral Springs Inferno, Team Easton, Team Worth and Team Florida.

New Fields Underway at Vero Beach Sports Village

VBSV is in the process of converting a small half-sized baseball field into a full 110yd x 150yd multi-sport field that will cater to lacrosse, football, soccer and rugby.

The field is estimated to be completed in approximately two months.

Free Admission for Youths in Uniform for Saturday’s Triple-A Exhibition Game at Holman Stadium; Alma Lee Loy to Throw First Pitch

VERO BEACH, Fla.—All youth baseball and softball players under the age of 18 that wear their team uniform will receive free admission to The Triple-A^®exhibition game between the Buffalo Bisons and New Orleans Zephyrs in Holman Stadium at Vero Beach Sports Village (VBSV) at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

Alma Lee Loy, a Vero Beach icon, retired businesswoman and philanthropist who has served the Vero Beach community for over 50 years, will throw out the first pitch. Loy has been recently recognized by the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce for her long-time, continuous community efforts with the naming of a new building after her as well as the state legislature renaming the 17^th Street Bridge in her name starting on July 1.

Marlins, Mets Triple-A affiliates to Play Charity Exhibition Game in Holman Stadium

VERO BEACH, Fla.—Vero Beach Sports Village is pleased to announce that the Triple-A^® affiliates of the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets, the Pacific Coast League New Orleans Zephyrs and the International League Buffalo Bisons, respectfully, will meet in an exhibition game to benefit the United Way of Indian River County in Holman Stadium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 31.

“This exhibition game provides us an opportunity to once again bring the excitement of Minor League Baseball to Vero Beach Sports Village,” said Minor League Baseball President Pat O’Conner. “The fact that this game between players just one step from the Major Leagues will benefit residents of Indian River County makes it even more special. I would like to thank the Marlins and Mets for agreeing to send their top affiliates to play in what hopefully will become an annual charity event.”

VBSV Second Annual College & High School Baseball Spring Training Begins

VERO BEACH, Fla.— More than 100 teams from 23 states and Canada are scheduled to attend the second annual College and High School Baseball Spring Training program at Vero Beach Sports Village. The first team arrived this past weekend for the chance to train and play on the same fields that former big leaguers did since 1948. The spring training event will run through April 22 and more than 800 games will be played on-site.

VBSV Hosting 50 Teams for Second Annual Treasure Coast President’s Day Tournament

VERO BEACH, Fla.— 50 teams from several different states are scheduled to participate in the second annual Vero Beach Sports Village Treasure Coast President's Day Challenge this weekend February 18-20. The number of teams playing in this year’s event are more than twice the number that participated in the inaugural tournament last year.

 

Teams from New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois and Mississippi as well and a team from Canada will also participate in next weekend’s event.

USSSA Youth Baseball Tournament to be First Event on New VBSV Fields

VERO BEACH, Fla.— Vero Beach Sports Village is proud to announce a Florida Premier Sports/USSSA sanctioned tournament from April 27-29 will be its first event on the new youth baseball/softball fields.

Vero Beach Sports Village, in conjunction with the Treasure Coast Sports Commission has formed a relationship with Florida Premier Sports to host USSSA sanctioned events at its complex.

The Umpire School Welcomes First Class Sunday

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Umpire School, the only all-inclusive professional baseball umpire school with on-site field and classroom instruction; housing; dining; and recreation, will begin instructing its first class Sunday at Vero Beach Sports Village in Vero Beach, Fla. Professional Baseball Umpire Corp (PBUC) supervisors will instruct attendees of the 28-day course that runs through February 5. PBUC oversees the training and employment of umpires in the Minor League Baseball system throughout the United States and Canada.
